The United Kingdom has updated its visa requirements, reaffirming that citizens of Zimbabwe and 32 other African countries must obtain a visa before travelling to or transiting through the UK. The revised guidance forms part of the UK’s broader immigration and border control measures.
For Zimbabweans planning holidays, business trips, family visits, medical treatment or short courses in Britain, the update serves as a reminder that they must secure the appropriate visa before departure. The rules also apply to many travellers transiting through UK airports, depending on their travel circumstances.
The UK government’s updated list, published on July 10, includes Zimbabwe among the countries whose nationals require visas for entry or transit. The guidance also notes that successful applicants are increasingly being issued digital eVisas instead of physical visa stickers as the country continues its transition to a fully digital immigration system.
The changes affect nationals from 33 African countries, including Zimbabwe, South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania and Egypt.
The UK said travellers should ensure they apply for the correct visa category before travelling and check the latest entry requirements well in advance of their intended departure to avoid being denied boarding or entry.
The updated guidance comes as thousands of Zimbabweans continue to travel to the UK for work, study, tourism and to visit relatives, making compliance with visa regulations essential for smooth travel.
