Zimbabwe have retained 12th position in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20 International (T20I) team rankings despite suffering a humiliating 3-0 series whitewash against Afghanistan.

The updated rankings, released following Afghanistan’s convincing seven-wicket victory in the third and final T20I at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, show that Zimbabwe remain on 200 rating points after losing two points following the series defeat.

Afghanistan, meanwhile, have strengthened their position in 10th place, gaining two rating points to move to 220.

The latest rankings offer little comfort for Zimbabwe, whose struggles against Afghanistan exposed significant weaknesses in their batting department, particularly their inability to cope with quality spin bowling.

Zimbabwe’s disappointing campaign ended with another comprehensive defeat after Afghanistan cruised to a seven-wicket victory in the third T20I.

Despite the series setback, Zimbabwe have maintained their 12th position in the ICC rankings.

At the summit, England continue to lead the rankings with 269 rating points, narrowly ahead of India, who have 267.

Australia complete the top three with 260 points, followed by New Zealand and South Africa.
