Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) students staying at Varsity Heights have been ordered to vacate the accommodation facility to make way for delegates attending the upcoming ZANU PF Conference.

The ZANU PF 23rd National People’s Conference will be held from 12–17 October 2026 at Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT), Chinhoyi, Mashonaland West Province.

According to a notice issued by Varsity Heights management, students must leave the facility by October 12, with the university’s semester break coinciding with preparations to accommodate people attending the ruling party’s congress.

CUT’s semester break runs from October 8 to 19, during which Varsity Heights will be used to accommodate congress delegates.

“During this period the facility will be used to accommodate the upcoming ZANU PF Congress,” management said in the notice.

The directive requires students to make alternative accommodation arrangements during the period, while also ensuring that their rooms are cleaned and personal belongings removed before departure.

“As part of the preparations, all students will be required to vacate the facility by 12 October 2026,” the notice said.

Students who are unable to take their luggage home will, however, be allowed to leave their belongings at the facility under arrangements to be communicated by management.

“For students who may have challenges in taking their luggage home, arrangements will be made for luggage to be left securely at the facility,” management said.

Management appealed to students to cooperate with the directive, saying it appreciated their “cooperation and understanding”.

The development means students residing at Varsity Heights will have to make alternative accommodation arrangements during part of the semester break as the facility is temporarily repurposed to house delegates attending the ZANU PF Conference.
