Zimbabwe international Tawanda Maswanhise continued his impressive scoring form in Scotland on Sunday afternoon, finding the net as Motherwell battled to a dramatic 3-3 draw against St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.
The Warriors forward needed just two minutes to make his mark in Paisley, giving Motherwell a dream start with a composed finish.
Maswanhise was released by Alex Lowry before using his pace to break clear, rounding St Mirren goalkeeper Jacob Chapman and calmly rolling the ball into an empty net.
It was another reminder of the 23-year-old Zimbabwean’s growing influence in Motherwell’s attack following a remarkable previous campaign in which he established himself as one of the Scottish Premiership’s standout performers.
Maswanhise had an opportunity to add a second from the penalty spot in the 15th minute after VAR spotted a handball by Alex Gogic.
However, Chapman denied the Zimbabwean from the spot.
Motherwell doubled their advantage through Regan Charles-Cook in the 24th minute and appeared firmly in control before St Mirren produced a stunning response.
Paul Nsio, Declan John and Samuel Ramos all struck before half-time to turn the match on its head and send the hosts into the break leading 3-2.
Maswanhise remained a threat and came agonisingly close to connecting with a dangerous ball across the six-yard box shortly before the hour mark.
He was substituted in the 58th minute as Motherwell searched for a route back into the contest.
That breakthrough eventually arrived deep into stoppage time when new signing Jardell Kanga, making his Motherwell debut, fired home a superb volley to secure a point for the Steelmen.
The result left Motherwell unbeaten after their opening three Scottish Premiership matches of the new campaign.
For Maswanhise, however, another goal adds to a rapidly growing reputation in Scottish football.
