At least 25 people were killed in a horrific head-on collision involving a commuter omnibus and a haulage truck along the Harare–Chivhu Highway on Friday night.
The crash occurred about 15km south of Chivhu along the Harare-Masvingo highway.
Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Itayi Ndudzo confirmed that 23 people died at the scene, while two others later succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
Two people survived the crash, including the haulage truck driver, but were reportedly in critical condition and receiving treatment in hospital.

Authorities said the commuter omnibus was overloaded.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and the Civil Protection Unit were deployed to the scene to assist with rescue, recovery and clearance operations.
The circumstances surrounding the collision were not immediately clear.
Authorities had also not yet released the identities of the victims as investigations into the crash continued.
