NRTV’s long-running salary dispute has taken a potentially more serious turn after the Sheriff of the High Court reported to police that a company Toyota Fortuner could not be located during the removal of attached property.

The broadcaster’s vehicles and other assets are due to be auctioned on Wednesday August 26.

Workers involved in the case told National Interest News that the Toyota Fortuner was being used by an NRTV production manager when the Sheriff sought to take possession of the vehicle.

The claim about who was using the vehicle is not contained in the Sheriff’s Return of Service. However, the official document independently confirms that the Fortuner was missing when the Sheriff went to remove property and that attempts to have the defendants produce the vehicle were unsuccessful.

“A police report was made under RRB Number 6951756 for Toyota Fortuner which was missing at the address for service on the day of removal,” the Sheriff recorded.

“Efforts to engage the defendants to bring the vehicles were fruitless leading the Sheriff to file a police report.”

The Return of Service is dated August 19, 2026, and relates to High Court case HCH1957/26, with NRTV — Nkulumane Rusununguko Television — cited as the defendant against Walter Tendai Duri and dozens of other employees.

The latest development comes on the eve of an auction scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, as workers move to recover US$278,479.88 in unpaid salaries accumulated between December 2024 and September 2025.

Vehicles earmarked for sale include a Nissan NV350, Mercedes-Benz C200, three Toyota Aquas and a Toyota minibus, alongside office furniture.
