Zimbabwe international forward Knowledge Musona has ruled out an immediate retirement, saying he intends to continue playing for as long as his body allows him to compete at the highest level.
The 36-year-old Scottland FC striker, who recently returned to Zimbabwean football after a lengthy career abroad, says he has no fixed date in mind for hanging up his boots.
Musona made the comments after featuring for Scottland in an encounter against his former club, South African giants Kaizer Chiefs palyed on Sunday in Johannesburg.
The veteran forward said his decision on when to retire would largely depend on his fitness and ability to remain injury-free.
“As for now, I’m still fit,” Musona said.
“I can still play at least 90% of the games, so as long as I’m injury free, I will continue to give everything that I have until the end.
“I will not give it a timeline, but I will take each season as it comes and if injury free, I will play as much as I can.”
Musona’s comments will come as a boost to Scottland supporters, who have watched the experienced forward continue to play an influential role for the Harare-based club.
The former Warriors captain returned to Zimbabwe in 2025 to join Scottland after a career that took him to South Africa, Germany, Belgium and Saudi Arabia.
He began his professional career with Kaizer Chiefs in 2009, quickly establishing himself as one of the most dangerous attackers in the South African Premiership.
His performances for Amakhosi earned him a move to Europe, where he joined German side Hoffenheim before later turning out for clubs in Belgium and Saudi Arabia.
Musona also enjoyed a successful international career with Zimbabwe, earning a reputation as one of the country’s leading strikers of his generation.
His return to domestic football has been one of the major talking points in the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League, with the veteran striker continuing to demonstrate his goalscoring ability despite his advancing age.
Musona has so far scored 8 goals for Scottland FC in the current 2026 season.
Musona faced his former club Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday in a Toyota Cup encounter, describing the Soweto giants as his “first home” outside Zimbabwe and expressing gratitude for the platform they gave him early in his career.
“It’s a great honour, it feels great to be back. Kaizer Chiefs is my first home and I’m so grateful to the club because they gave me the platform when I was young to showcase my talent before going abroad,” he said.
For now, the “Smiling Assassin” appears determined to prolong his playing career, leaving the door open for more goals and memorable performances before he eventually calls time on a career spanning more than 15 years.
His latest comments suggest that, rather than setting a retirement date, Musona will continue to assess his future season by season.
