Controversial Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has given his social-media followers another jaw-dropping glimpse into his extraordinary lifestyle — this time revealing that Kenyan President William Ruto personally drove him to his helicopter.

Chivayo posted a selfie video showing himself sitting in the passenger seat while Ruto was behind the wheel.

And according to the flamboyant businessman, the unusual presidential ride happened after he attended the engagement party of Ruto’s daughter.

Chivayo said he had left his helicopter at a nearby helipad when Ruto offered to personally drive him the short distance to where the aircraft was waiting.

“President William Ruto offered to drive and drop me 3km to the helipad where I had left my helicopter,” Chivayo wrote.

The businessman appeared stunned by the gesture, joking that the experience had convinced him of his own royal status.

“Now I believe royal blood indeed flows through my veins,” he declared.

He also heaped praise on Ruto, describing the Kenyan leader’s gesture as evidence of “unmatched humility”.

Presidential chauffeur

The sight of a sitting president behind the wheel, with a high-profile Zimbabwean businessman sitting beside him, is unlikely to be an everyday occurrence.

But for Chivayo, it became another memorable episode in a lifestyle that he regularly puts on display online.

The businessman is well known in Zimbabwe for his flamboyant social-media posts featuring luxury cars, private jets, expensive watches, exotic holidays and encounters with influential personalities.

His latest video adds a presidential ride to the list.

The three-kilometre journey may have been short, but Chivayo clearly regarded it as a moment worth documenting.

Instead of simply getting into the car and heading for the helipad, he pulled out his phone and filmed the extraordinary journey — with Ruto clearly visible at the wheel.

From engagement party to helipad

Chivayo was in Kenya to attend the engagement celebrations involving Ruto’s daughter, giving him an opportunity to mingle with members of the Kenyan president’s family and other guests.

The businessman did not disclose further details about the private function in his post, choosing instead to highlight his unexpected ride with Ruto.

His description of the encounter was characteristically dramatic.

For many Zimbabweans familiar with Chivayo’s social-media presence, the presidential lift is another chapter in his carefully documented world of luxury, influence and high-profile connections.

A ride to remember

While the distance was only about three kilometres, Chivayo clearly regarded the journey as far more significant than an ordinary trip to a helipad.

His message was less about the distance travelled and more about the gesture itself — a sitting president choosing to personally drive a guest.

And Chivayo appeared to relish every second of it.

With his helicopter waiting at the helipad, the businessman got what may be one of the most unusual chauffeur services imaginable: a presidential ride from Kenya’s head of state himself.

Ruto, who became Kenya’s president in 2022, has maintained a highly visible public profile both within Kenya and internationally. His public appearances regularly attract significant attention, particularly when they depart from the conventional protocol associated with presidential office.

For Chivayo, the short drive appears to have become a memorable moment, which he chose to document and share with his followers.
