Businessman Wicknel Chivhayo has once again grabbed headlines after gifting a brand-new Toyota Fortuner and US$10 000 in cash to Cuthbert Chiromo, the long-serving manager of Zimbabwean music legend Thomas “Mukanya” Mapfumo.
Chivhayo announced the surprise gift on his X account, where he thanked Chiromo for facilitating his connection with the veteran musician, whom he described as his “best singer of all time.”
In a post that quickly drew widespread attention on social media, Chivhayo instructed Chiromo to collect the vehicle from Enterprise Car Sales on Monday. He also revealed that an additional US$10 000 had been set aside to cover fuel expenses.
“Congratulations to you, Mr Cuthbert Chiromo. Go and see Madzibaba Chipaga on Monday afternoon at Enterprise Car Sales. Your brand-new Toyota Fortuner 2.4 GD6 has been fully paid for. He will also give you US$10 000 cash for fuel,” Chivhayo wrote.
He said Chiromo deserved to be rewarded for helping bring him together with Mapfumo.
“The effort you made in uniting me and my best singer of all time cannot go unnoticed,” he said.
The latest gesture adds to a growing list of high-profile gifts Chivhayo has handed out in recent months, including luxury vehicles and cash donations to musicians, entertainers, religious leaders and other public figures.
