Liverpool midfielder Trey Nyoni, who is of Zimbabwean heritage, played a key role as England Under-20s secured a 2-1 victory over France in the Euro Elite League.
Nyoni provided an assist for the Young Lions as Liverpool’s young internationals made their mark during Tuesday’s round of international fixtures.
Nyoni set up Mikey Moore for the winning goal at the Estadi Olimpic Camilo Cano in Spain.
The Zimbabwe-eligible midfielder featured for just under an hour before being substituted, continuing his development at international level.
Nyoni, who was born in England to Zimbabwean parents, joined Liverpool from Leicester City in September 2023 and has progressed through the club’s youth ranks into the senior squad. He signed a new long-term contract with the Reds in June 2025.

The 19-year-old has already made his mark at senior club level. Liverpool’s official profile says he made his Premier League debut in December 2025 and subsequently made 14 appearances during that campaign.
Nyoni’s continued involvement with England’s Young Lions will remain of particular interest in Zimbabwe because of his eligibility to represent the African country through his parents, although his current international involvement is with England.
While Nyoni impressed at youth international level, fellow Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha featured for England’s senior side in their 2-0 Nations League victory over Czechia in Prague.

Ngumoha came off the bench for the final 20 minutes and, in the process, became the third-youngest player to make a competitive appearance for England.
The appearance followed his senior debut in a friendly against New Zealand in June, when he became England’s 1,300th capped player.
Spain also recorded a convincing 4-1 victory over Croatia, with Liverpool’s Victor Munoz introduced from the bench in the latter stages.
Elsewhere, Kyle Kelly played the full match for St Kitts and Nevis as they defeated Grenada 3-0 in the CONCACAF Nations League, while Liverpool’s Prince Cisse started for Wales Under-19s in their 2-0 defeat to the United States.
