Businessman Wicknell Chivhayo says he harbours no ill feelings towards Advocate Lewis Uriri after the lawyer declined to accept further gifts from him.

In a statement posted on social media, Chivhayo said he respected Uriri’s decision and dismissed speculation of a fallout between the two, insisting their long-standing relationship remains intact.

Chivhayo revealed that over the years he had extended several gestures of appreciation to Uriri, including the purchase of a Land Rover Discovery 4 in 2024, first-class travel arrangements and holiday trips for the lawyer and his wife.

He also disclosed that the latest package of gifts offered to Uriri included a brand-new 2026 Range Rover Sport Autobiography valued at approximately US$250,000, US$50,000 for fuel and an additional US$50,000 for Uriri’s wife, whom Chivhayo described as a senior lawyer.

According to Chivhayo, the gifts were voluntarily given as a token of appreciation for Uriri’s legal services and friendship.

He said while Uriri had accepted gestures of appreciation in the past, he understood and respected the lawyer’s decision not to receive any further gifts.

“If today he has decided that he is no longer comfortable accepting anything further from me, I equally respect that decision and harbour no hard feelings whatsoever,” Chivhayo said.

He added that circumstances and personal choices change and there was “absolutely no problem” if Uriri chose not to accept additional gifts.

Chivhayo stressed that there was no dispute between the two men.

“I still respect Advocate Uriri, I still appreciate everything he has done for me, and as far as I am concerned, there is no fight, no grudge and no drama,” he said.

The businessman said he remains grateful for the relationship they have shared over the years and wished Uriri well, adding that he would continue assisting others who may be in need of support.

Chivhayo said he received Uriri’s response with “great thanks and respect” and maintained that the decision to decline the gifts would not affect their relationship.
