Gweru murder suspect Godknows Muleya has reportedly shot himself dead in Chiredzi, hours after posting an apology on social media following the fatal shooting of his estranged wife, Midlands State University student Lisedi Nkomo.
Journalist Ezra Tshisa Sibanda reported that Muleya died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, although the circumstances of his reported death had not been confirmed by police at the time of publication.
Muleya was being sought by police in connection with the death of Nkomo, 25, a fourth-year Psychology student at Midlands State University (MSU), who was shot at a boarding house in Senga, Gweru, on October 8.

In a lengthy Facebook post published before his reported death, Muleya reflected on their relationship, expressed remorse over what had happened and appealed to both families for forgiveness.
“Lesedi Nkomo, may your soul rest in eternal peace,” he wrote.
Muleya said he had genuinely loved Nkomo and had hoped to build a future with her despite the challenges in their relationship.
“I am not writing this message to portray myself as a saint or Lesedi as a bad person. I have made mistakes, and I take responsibility for my part in everything that happened,” he said.
He also disclosed that he was still married to another woman, Kimberly, when he became involved with Nkomo, acknowledging that the circumstances surrounding their relationship had been complicated.
“When I became involved with Lesedi, I was still married to Kimberly. I acknowledge that the circumstances were complicated, and I do not pretend that I handled everything perfectly,” he wrote.
Muleya recalled the birth of their son, Jordan Angels Muleya, describing it as one of the memories he would always cherish.
“One memory I will never forget is the day our son, Jordan Angels Muleya, was born. I stood beside Lesedi in the theatre throughout the delivery procedure, supporting her until the very end,” he said.

He described their relationship as troubled by misunderstandings, accusations and periods of separation, saying they repeatedly reconciled despite their differences.
“Sometimes things would improve for a short while, only for us to return to the same painful cycle,” he wrote.
In another Facebook post, Muleya said he did not understand why events had taken such a tragic turn.
“I don’t have the answers why things ended this way,” he wrote, adding that he was prepared to face the consequences of his actions.
He also appealed to the Nkomo and Muleya families to forgive him for the pain and distress he may have caused.
“To the Nkomo and Muleya families, I humbly ask for forgiveness for any pain, disappointment, or embarrassment I may have caused,” he said.
Police confirmed that Nkomo died after allegedly being shot once in the forehead during a dispute with Muleya.
This is a developing story…….
