Gweru murder suspect Godknows Muleya has been found dead at a guest lodge in Chiredzi, hours after posting an apology on Facebook following the fatal shooting of his wife, Midlands State University (MSU) student Lisedi Nkomo.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that Muleya, 30, was discovered with a gunshot wound to the forehead on Saturday, October 10, two days after Nkomo, 25, was allegedly shot dead at a boarding house in Senga, Gweru.

In a statement published on its official X account, police confirmed the discovery of Muleya’s body and the recovery of a firearm at the scene.

“The ZRP confirms the discovery of the body of Godknows Muleya at a guest lodge in Chiredzi on 10/10/2026,” police said.

“Godknows Muleya was found with a gunshot wound on the forehead. A pistol loaded with a magazine of three rounds and a spent cartridge were recovered at the scene.”

“Investigations are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.”

Before his death, Muleya published a lengthy Facebook post reflecting on his relationship with Nkomo, acknowledging his mistakes and appealing to both families for forgiveness.

“Lesedi Nkomo, may your soul rest in eternal peace,” he wrote.

“I am not writing this message to portray myself as a saint or Lesedi as a bad person. I have made mistakes, and I take responsibility for my part in everything that happened.”

Muleya said he had genuinely loved Nkomo and hoped to build a future with her despite difficulties in their relationship. He also disclosed that he was still married to another woman, Kimberly, when their relationship began.

“When I became involved with Lesedi, I was still married to Kimberly. I acknowledge that the circumstances were complicated, and I do not pretend that I handled everything perfectly,” he wrote.

Reflecting on the birth of their son, Jordan Angels Muleya, he described the occasion as one of his most cherished memories.

“One memory I will never forget is the day our son, Jordan Angels Muleya, was born. I stood beside Lesedi in the theatre throughout the delivery procedure, supporting her until the very end,” he said.

Muleya described a troubled relationship marked by misunderstandings, accusations and repeated separations, followed by attempts at reconciliation.

“Sometimes things would improve for a short while, only for us to return to the same painful cycle,” he wrote.

In a separate Facebook post, he expressed regret over the tragedy and acknowledged the consequences of his actions.

“I don’t have the answers why things ended this way,” he wrote.

He also appealed to the two families for forgiveness.

“To the Nkomo and Muleya families, I humbly ask for forgiveness for any pain, disappointment, or embarrassment I may have caused,” he said.

Nkomo, a fourth-year Psychology student at MSU, died on October 8 after allegedly being shot by Muleya during a dispute.
