A senior partner at Grant Thornton Zimbabwe, Kundai Tibugare, has denied allegations that he had an affair with the estranged wife of veteran broadcaster Musorowegomo Mukosi, who is suing him for US$200,000.
In a response dated 8 October 2026, filed through Chimuka Mafunga Commercial Attorneys and served on Mukosi’s lawyers Rubaya and Chatambudza, Tibugare dismisses the adultery claim as baseless and says it is designed to damage his reputation.
Mukosi alleges Tibugare was involved with his wife, Esther Vimbainashe Jerera and is claiming US$100,000 for injury to his dignity and privacy and a further US$100,000 for loss of consortium.

Tibugare’s lawyers argue that Mukosi deliberately mentioned their client’s workplace in his demand letter to cause professional harm.
They also reject suggestions that Tibugare considers himself politically protected or above the law, saying he has no such immunity and is not politically untouchable.
The letter further denies that Tibugare and Jerera had a pattern of meeting outside their shared law studies at the University of Zimbabwe.
Tibugare denies buying a white Toyota Fortuner for Jerera, as alleged, and denies that he took trips with her to South Africa and Madagascar where they allegedly shared accommodation.
A major part of the rebuttal questions how Mukosi obtained his purported evidence. Mukosi claims to have call records, airline manifests, airport CCTV and location data.
Tibugare’s lawyers state they have been informed that Mukosi claims to be affiliated to the Central Intelligence Organisation and boasts that he can access any record. They argue this explains his claim to hold information that would ordinarily only be available to government agencies, security services and mobile network operators.

In a separate affidavit, Jerera says her marriage to Mukosi effectively ended in October 2025, well before the current legal exchange, although it has not yet been formally dissolved.
She states she married Mukosi in 2017 and they have one child. She says the house at Stand 5116, Crowhill Farm, which Mukosi describes as their matrimonial home, is hers alone, purchased with money she inherited from her late parents. She says she built a cottage on it in 2025 and that Mukosi has never lived there or spent a night there.
Jerera alleges a history of abuse. She says she first left Mukosi in 2021 over alleged assaults and infidelity, reconciled in 2023, but left again in October 2025 after discovering further alleged affairs.
She says Mukosi later sent an intermediary to her family to acknowledge the separation and had their household goods moved to her parents’ home.
“There is no romantic or marital relationship between us anymore,” she says in essence, arguing that a marriage certificate cannot sustain a relationship that no longer exists by consent and shared values.
Jerera denies that she ever confessed to an affair with Tibugare, describing that claim as invented, and asks Mukosi to produce proof.
She also denies being financially dependent on Tibugare. She says she is a chartered accountant who runs her own consultancy and lives off her inheritance and business income, and is fully capable of supporting herself.
She accuses Mukosi of improperly accessing her phone records and harassing male colleagues and friends he suspected her of being involved with, including former co-workers.
She further claims Mukosi kept a pistol by his bedside to intimidate her and threatened some of those men.
According to Jerera, the adultery lawsuit is an attempt to cut her off from her professional and business support system and force her back into financial dependence.
She says it is unjust for Mukosi to try to profit financially and to damage her professional standing by suing over a relationship she says no longer exists.
