Zimbabwe international forward Khama Billiat could be on the move to Tanzania at the end of the 2026 season, with Tanzanian Premier League side Azam FC interested in securing his services.
The 36-year-old Scottland FC star has emerged as a potential target for Azam, who are looking to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window.
According to South African football publication FARPost, Billiat is weighing up his options as he approaches the end of his contract with Scottland, which runs until December 31.
A move to Tanzania would see the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs star return to foreign football after making his name in South Africa and later returning home to play in the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League.
The attacker is open to testing himself outside Zimbabwe again. He is expected to assess his options before deciding on his next move.
Scottland are also keen to retain his services beyond the current campaign. Further interest from elsewhere in Zimbabwe means a move to Tanzania is far from a foregone conclusion.
Azam are understood to view Billiat’s experience and versatility as important additions as they seek to strengthen their squad for the second half of the Tanzanian season.
The Chamazi-based club have regularly challenged near the top of the Tanzanian Premier League and are seeking to close the gap on the country’s dominant clubs, Young Africans and Simba SC.
Billiat’s current form is likely to strengthen his appeal.
He has scored 11 goals and provided six assists from 23 league starts this season, making him Scottland’s leading scorer. He is also joint-third on the league’s scoring chart and leads the assists standings.
The veteran attacker has played a key role in Scottland’s title defence, with the Harare-based side locked in a tight race with Hardrock FC.
Scottland are currently on 58 points, one ahead of Hardrock.
Billiat joined Scottland ahead of the 2025 campaign and played a significant role in their historic Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title triumph in their debut season.
