Winky D’s latest performance at the Tête-à-Tête Concert in Harare has sparked intense debate on social media, with fans and religious commentators divided over the musician’s choice of stage costumes.
The reggae-dancehall star delivered an energetic set at Alex Sports Club, but much of the post-concert discussion centred on two striking outfits he wore during the show. The first was a white astronaut-inspired suit complete with a helmet, while the second featured a dark hooded coat adorned with large gold horns and a goat emblem on the chest.
Images and videos from the concert quickly circulated online, triggering mixed reactions from supporters and critics alike.
Some social media users interpreted the horned costume as resembling imagery linked to occult symbolism, while others dismissed the claims, arguing that the outfit was simply part of a theatrical stage production.
Religious leader Apostle Joe was among those who weighed in on the discussion, saying Christians should exercise discernment when evaluating public imagery presented by influential figures.
“My concern is primarily about the symbolism and imagery, rather than making a definitive statement about the artist’s personal beliefs or intentions,” he said.
He added that the horned costume raised questions because of its resemblance to imagery historically associated with Baphomet and occult symbolism, stressing that his comments were not intended as a judgment of the musician’s personal beliefs.
However, many fans defended Winky D, arguing that the costumes represented artistic expression rather than any spiritual message. Several supporters suggested that the goat imagery symbolised the acronym G.O.A.T. — Greatest of All Time — while the astronaut outfit reflected ambition and reaching greater heights.
Others praised the artist for creating a memorable visual spectacle, noting that elaborate costumes and symbolism have long been part of his stagecraft.
The debate has continued to trend online, with supporters and critics offering differing interpretations of the performance. While opinions remain divided, the controversy has once again demonstrated Winky D’s ability to command public attention and keep audiences talking long after the music has stopped.
