Zimbabwe international Marshall Munetsi produced another industrious display for Wolverhampton Wanderers, while fellow defender Jordan Zemura made his first start for Watford as Zimbabwean players continued to make their mark abroad.
Munetsi played a key role as Wolves secured a convincing 3-1 away victory over Preston North End in the English Championship on Saturday.
The midfielder was particularly influential defensively, including making a crucial goal-line clearance with a timely header as Wolves collected another valuable three points.
His performance earned him a 7.5 rating from Afriscores, underlining his contribution to Wolves’ victory.
Munetsi had already made headlines at the beginning of the campaign after scoring the opening goal of the 2026/27 Championship season in Wolves’ 2-2 draw against Blackburn Rovers.
At Watford, Zemura completed his first full start for the club as they were held to a 1-1 draw away to Wrexham.
The Zimbabwean left-back lasted the entire 90 minutes and produced a solid all-round performance. He completed 25 of his 35 passes, won three tackles and made four clearances.
Zemura also came close to finding the target, forcing the Wrexham goalkeeper into action with a rising effort shortly before half-time.
The start represents further progress for Zemura, who made his Watford debut the previous weekend after coming off the bench in their 2-1 victory over Southampton.
Elsewhere in England, Tendayi Darikwa captained Lincoln City but was forced off in the 55th minute after suffering a knee injury during a 3-1 defeat to Portsmouth.
Andy Rinomhota started for Reading in their goalless draw against AFC Wimbledon before being substituted in the 65th minute, while Wolves loanee Leon Chiwome came off the bench for Colchester United in their 2-1 victory over Oldham Athletic.
In Denmark, Munashe Garananga made his second consecutive start for Lyngby FC and played the full match as his side fell 2-1 to Horsens.
Tawanda Chirewa, meanwhile, remained an unused substitute for Wolves.
The weekend’s performances continue to highlight the growing presence of Zimbabwean players across Europe’s major leagues, with Munetsi and Zemura particularly catching the eye as the new English Championship campaign gathers momentum.
