A Zimbabwean man living in the United Kingdom has been sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of rape following an investigation by Thames Valley Police.

Emmanuel Jeche (28), formerly of Walnut Tree in Milton Keynes, was sentenced at Amersham Crown Court after a jury found him guilty of one count of rape.

The conviction followed an eight-day trial. The jury unanimously found Jeche guilty of the offence.

The rape occurred in the early hours of June 12, 2021, in Wolverton, Milton Keynes.

The victim reported the incident to police the following day, prompting an investigation. Jeche was arrested on June 14, 2021.

During the investigation, Jeche admitted that sexual intercourse had taken place but maintained that it was consensual. He was subsequently charged and later convicted by a jury.

Police Staff Investigator David Brandon of Milton Keynes CID said no prison sentence could fully compensate the victim for the trauma caused by rape.

“However, I hope this sentence provides the victim with a sense of closure and allows her to continue rebuilding her life following this awful experience,” Brandon said.

He praised the victim for her courage and determination throughout the investigation and court proceedings.

“Rape and other sexual offences can have a devastating impact on victims. We will continue to investigate these offences thoroughly, support victims and pursue those responsible through the courts,” he said.
