Businessman Wicknell Chivayo has suggested that music legend Thomas “Mukanya” Mapfumo could be in line for even more lavish gifts, including a luxury home in Borrowdale and a brand new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series ZX, just a day after unveiling a US$1 million agreement for the veteran musician to perform at two shows.
Celebrating the deal, Chivayo proclaimed that “Mukanya is now a confirmed and official MILLIONAIRE in USD cash.”
He also indicated that the Land Cruiser he had previously promised Mapfumo is still waiting to be handed over, saying that after the performances he intends to ask whether “Mukanya’s brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series ZX from last year is still parked at Victor’s place.”
In another generous pledge, Chivayo hinted that he could also buy the Chimurenga icon a house in the upmarket suburb of Borrowdale, declaring that once he is done with the vehicle, the next step would be to find Mapfumo a home and have the title deeds registered directly in the musician’s name.
