A Zimbabwean man wanted in the United Kingdom over the alleged murder of his wife and two young daughters has been arrested in South Africa.

Mkhanyisi Tshuma, 45, was apprehended in Kensington, Johannesburg, during a joint operation by the South African Police Service (SAPS) Organised Crime Unit and Interpol.

British authorities have been searching for Tshuma in connection with the deaths of his wife and two daughters in Bedford, England. He is alleged to have fled the UK shortly after the killings, triggering an international manhunt.

The case has attracted widespread attention in both the United Kingdom and Zimbabwe following the release of Tshuma’s identity and appeals by British police for information on his whereabouts.

South African authorities have confirmed the arrest and are expected to work closely with their British counterparts as investigations continue. Extradition proceedings are also expected to begin to facilitate his return to the UK, where he is wanted for questioning.

Investigators have not yet disclosed further details surrounding the circumstances of the murders, and the investigation remains ongoing.
