Relegated English Championship side Sheffield Wednesday has released Marvelous Nakamba just six months after he joined the club.
Nakamba’s departure was confirmed in the club’s retained list ahead of the 2026/27 season following Wednesday’s relegation to League One.
The Zimbabwe international joined the Owls in February after leaving Luton Town on a free transfer, but his stay at Hillsborough proved short-lived amid a difficult campaign for the South Yorkshire club.
Nakamba was among several players released by Wednesday as the club begins rebuilding after a disastrous season that ended in relegation from the Championship.
The 32-year-old midfielder, who captains the Warriors, previously played for Aston Villa, Club Brugge and Vitesse during a career that has seen him feature in the Premier League, Belgian top flight and Eredivisie.
Meanwhile, Sean Fusire, sho is still under contract, has been retained by the club ahead of the new season.
