Zimbabwe international football star, Marshall Munetsi is poised to reunite with Vitor Pereira amid reports Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers have reached an agreement in principle for the midfielder.

Munetsi is currently on loan at Paris FC in the French top league.

Earlier this month he indicated he was ready to stay in Paris, noting that he liked the club’s project and that his family were happy in the city.

Forest’s interest is likely driven by Pereira, who frequently praised Munetsi at Wolves and handed him regular starts despite many supporters believing he was limited on the ball.

Relegated Wolves are hoping to recoup as much of the £16 million from the deal.

Munetsi joined Wolves from Stade de Reims for a reported £17.5 million in early 2025, but injuries and inconsistent form limited his impact in the English Premier League.

A calf injury disrupted his momentum, while criticism mounted over his performances during a challenging spell in the English top flight. By January 2026, Wolves opted to send the Warriors skipper on loan to Paris FC.

But the move to France revived Munetsi’s career where he produced a strong run of form in Ligue 1, scoring in three consecutive matches against Toulouse, Nice and Lyon, while also registering a crucial assist in a 2-2 draw against Marseille.

His resurgence quickly reignited interest in his future, with Forest now emerging as favourites for his signature despite Paris FC’s interest in making the deal permanent.

For Zimbabwean football, the potential transfer could carry historic significance.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has included Munetsi in the Warriors’ squad for the upcoming Unity Cup in England.

Zimbabwe will face African rivals Nigeria in the Unity Cup, which will be played in London following the conclusion of the European season.

It is the first squad called under Zimbabwe interim coach Kaitano Tembo, who replaced Mario Marinica.

According to Pan-Africa Football, Tembo’s first order of business was to recall Munetsi , who was controversially left out of Zimbabwe’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) due to injury despite claiming to be cleared to play.

Munetsi was joined by his Wolves teammate, Tawanda Chirewa, who is on loan at League One side Barnsley.

Chirewa is back in the national team setup after a fallout with Marinica after he was left out of the squad for the March international break.

There is no space in the Warriors squad for the experienced duo Khama Billiat, who leads the scoring charts in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League, and Knowledge Musona, with both players picking up knocks.
