Zimbabwe Military Leadership Transition: President Mnangagwa to Oversee Handover Ceremony

Today, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Commander in Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), will preside over the handover parade at Charles Gumbo Barracks. This ceremony marks the formal transition of command as General Emmanuel Matatu takes over from General Philip Valerio Sibanda, who is retiring after years of dedicated service.

General Matatu, promoted from Lieutenant General to General, will be succeeded by Lieutenant General Asher Walter Tapfumaneyi as Commander of the Zimbabwe National Army. The ceremony will feature farewell and acceptance speeches, the signing of handover certificates, and a keynote address by President Mnangagwa.
